Uniqlo By Michelle Pang

Tasked with creating the visual components that would bring meaning, relevance and differentiation to the Uniqlo Covent Garden store launch, I leaned on the brand’s clean, modern spirit and extensive collaboration with Japanese pop culture in an approach to pay homage to a vibrant heritage.

Growing up amidst the awakening wonder of manga and anime I paid fond attention to the live portrait station, converting the work of the on-site artists into conspicuous manga panels that adorned the worktops, and standalone frames that invited guests to momentarily become a main character of the comic strip. Finishing off with the small detail of the Uniqlo logo in a stamp form inspired by Hanko – name seals common in Japan.
